About the Program

The Dental Science program is for students interested in a career in the world of dentistry. This exciting program allows students to engage in a hands-on learning experience using state-of-the-art tools and simulators while earning high school credits and hours toward state licensure. The courses consist of both lecture and lab instruction.

Year One Courses - Dental Science

  • * Dental Anatomy

    * Infection Control (ICE)

    * Clinical skills practice

    * Dental specialties

    * Dental Materials

    * Office Management

  • * Reading proficiency at 9th grade level

    * Successful completion of algebra 1, physical science, and biology

    * Excellent high school attendance record

Year Two Courses - Dental Science

  • * Radiography (RHS)

    * Dental materials (continued)

    * Practicum Expanded Functions (EFDA). Students will be able to learn and practice these hands-on skills, for the most part at the WCA.

    * Job Shadows with local dentists to complete competencies for dental assisting exam.

Certifications

  • * Basic Life Support (BLS)

    * Dental Radiology

    * Certified Dental Exam
